Street Parking

If you absolutely must travel by car you may, but the area is extremely congested & parking is very limited. Residential neighborhood streets have resident permit parking only. Please beware of posted parking signs. Please do not leave any valuables in your car. Leave them at home.

NOTE: Neighborhood parking has not been authorized for this event. Vehicles are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

Walk/Run only in the closed portion of the street.

Obey all traffic signals, police officers and AWA5K route monitors

Water and restrooms facilities are available at each checkpoint.


Volunteers

All volunteers, please proceed to Volunteer Check-In. Also, please bring a copy of your confirmation email for ease of sign-in. There will be someone at Volunteer Check-In to receive donations, so please do not hesitate to drop off any funds you may have collected.

Runners

All runners, whether pre-registered or on-site registration, should proceed to Runner Check-In near 10th Street and Monroe Drive. Runner Check-In closes at 12:30 PM. If you have funds to turn in, please bring them with you to Runner Check-In. Please make sure that your sponsorship form & envelope have your name & the name of your team (if applicable) on them.

Walkers and Virtual Walkers

If you have raised funds in person or online then please proceed to the Walker Check-In.

• Please be sure that your sponsorship form & envelope have your name & the name of your team (if applicable) on them. (A sponsor form is attached.)

• Please have your donation amounts totaled prior to arriving at the Check-In tent.

If you have not raised any funds, please proceed to the Donations Tent; make a donation to demonstrate your commitment to helping us reach our goal. Then proceed to your team meeting area; or if you are not walking with a team then proceed to The Meadow and enjoy the Opening Ceremony.

Fundraising Awards

If you have raised enough to qualify for a Fundraising Award, you will be given a wrist band that corresponds to your award. You may pick up your award before the Walk/Run or after. Do not lose your wrist band as you need to turn it in to collect your Fundraising Awards. Awards are for individual fundraising efforts. This year’s fundraising awards are:

Team Photos

Volunteer photographers will be on hand to take a team photo of your Team. E-mail us at walkinfo@aidatlanta.org after the event to get a copy of your photo. Team photos will be taken between 12PM-1:45PM. Team photos will not be available after the Walk begins. We recommend carrying a team sign so that your team can be identified in photos and also along the route.

Please Note
 
During special event festivals like AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run, City of Atlanta ordinance prohibits the following in the festival/assembly area:
 
• Pets including dogs, cats, snakes, birds, pigs, horses, ponies - leashed or not.
 
• Outdoor cooking, except where a city grill has been provided for public use.
 
• Motorized vehicles or moped riding.
 
• Skateboard riding, roller blading, or roller skating.
 
• Playing portable radios, musical instruments or similar devices that are plainly audible to others in the park, unless part of event programming.
 
• Glass containers.
 
Additional Hints
 
• Pick a team meeting spot in advance in case any of your team members get separated.
 
• Bring a cell phone to the park so that you can contact those you are hoping to meet up with at the event. There will be no announcements for “lost folks” from the stage.
 
• Wear comfortable, light clothing such as shorts and comfortable sneakers. If the weather forecast calls for it, bring sunglasses and sunscreen; or a disposable poncho and umbrella in case of rain; and any other personal items you might need.
 
• Teams Land- A special meeting area for those who have 15 registered participants on their team. All tables and chairs in Teams Land will be broken down beginning at 2PM. AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run does not accept responsibility for items left on tables at the event.
 
• Water and Port-a-Potties will be available along the route, and refreshments will be avail-able for registered participants at the Finish Line.
 
• We want a sea of red! We encourage everyone to wear RED on AIDS Walk/Run Sunday. The Red Ribbon – the international symbol of the fight against AIDS and the care of people living with AIDS – was our inspiration.
